It is Sankranti today !!

"Jaao Jaao Patang udaao". - Famous line by Ballu the bear[from: Disney's Tailspin in Hindi]

Kite flying is the festival I enjoy the most. Flying kites, especially fighting kites requires skill, concentration and the killer spirit to 'never say die until there is another in the sky'. Wah ye tau sher ban gaya !!
Do you know we even fly kites at night, to the kite's string candle-lanterns are attached and thus you can see a beautiful flying 'Toran' of Lights in the sky.
I shall ask Dhaval to snap some pictures and post them for those who have'nt seen this.

After a lot of googling I could only find this page with some decent pictures of Indian kites.

I am in Bangalore right now and will have to leave for office in a few minutes. No kite flying for me this year :(
Anyways I can still enjoy the spirit of Sankranti.. like this..

Everyone shout with me once !!
" Khallllaaaas ........ Kaaaypo Chhhhhe ..... Kaaaaaaaaaaaypo Chhhhhe "

Update:
Sankranti pictures from Bombay- Courtsey Dhaval, Riddhi and Nidhi

I was aware that kite-flying is integral during Sankranti celebration. But I didnot know that for many people, it is an important and much awaiting festival too....
It depicts the symbol of simplicity and unity.

Few more sites about kite-flying...

In my childhood, I used try my hand on kites with my cousins at my place, at my Mama's place.. It used to be great fun..

But still I want to fly it independently.. may be some time later..
